AgForce will submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to nominate a weed for consideration as nationally significant under the National Established Weed Priorities (NEWP) initiative. NEWP replaces the original Weeds of National Significance (WoNS) approach.
This is significant because NEWP will be considered for investment and other initiatives.
Your prompt assistance is required to please email Dr Annie Ruttledge at RuttledgeA@agforceqld.org.au to name any weed you wish to progress to our attention.
The weed you suggest will be considered by the AgForce Biosecurity Committee against the NEWP threshold criteria which states that native species will not be considered.
Additionally, you may also wish to enquire with your local non-government NRM group regarding their plans to submit an EOI. The more nominations received for agriculturally significant weeds the better!!
